Dear Loved Ones,

Merry Christmas! We hope that each of you has the chance to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by those you love. We are writing to let you know where we are and what we are up to as 2007 draws to a close. As many of you know, we have been living as-- what we like to jokingly call ourselves-- nomads since the middle of August when we left our home in Salina, Kansas. Since then we spent a week in Austria at the Oasis ministry, then on to Chicago for training, after that we spent time in Omaha, Nebraska with Dan’s family and friends, and most recently we have landed in Coarsegold, California with Regan’s family and friends. Along the way we have been raising support in order to go to Austria full time to work with refugees at the Oasis with International Teams. We have had the privilege of spending time with many of you along the way and have been so blessed to realize just how many amazing friends we have. We want to thank each of you for encouraging and supporting us and the ministry we have been called to through your prayers, cards, emails, and financial gifts. It is hard to convey how much it means to us to have each of you in our lives. We truly are blessed by God because of you!

While we are very much enjoying our time with family and friends in California, we are also hard at work in preparing for Austria. Daily we are working on finishing up our post-training assignments for International Teams, communicating with our home churches and those who have joined us in supporting our ministry, working on getting all our paperwork completed for getting a visa once we arrive in Austria, and trying to figure out when we will be able to book our flights to Austria to join the Oasis team. Originally we were hoping to leave over New Years, but it is looking like we probably won’t make it to Austria until mid-January at the very soonest. International Teams requires all missionaries serving with them to have 100% of their support raised before leaving for the field, and while we have no complaints about how God has been faithful to show us His provision, we are still a ways away from being fully supported. As a note of praise, all of the onetime costs for travel, language school and getting established once we are in Austria have now been raised, along with 51% of our monthly costs for ministry and living expenses, and all that is left is to raise the last 49%. So now all the support that goes into our account can go toward our monthly support. We are very excited to see how God will continue to make it possible for us to follow Him in the ministry He has clearly called us to. The thing we have to remind ourselves of often is to be patient for God’s timing and not miss out on what He has to teach us in the meantime. Again we want to thank all of you for supporting us through your prayers and generosity. Without your faith, we would not be where we are right now!

As the year comes to a close, we are praying for you and ask that you will continue to hold us up in your prayers. It is our heartfelt desire to keep each of you informed about where we are and how God is working in our lives as He guides us through this next chapter of our lives.
