God has called us to the Oasis refugee ministry and we have been amazed as He has continued to confirm that call. While in college, God led Regan to serve short term with International Teams and He has guided us back to them as we considered our future in overseas ministry. Refugee ministry will be a challenge unlike any we have yet faced in our lives. We feel that God has gifted us with talents that will be able to be maximized in working with displaced people.

We have been blessed with a unique opportunity to reach refugees, many of whom come from countries hostile to Christianity, to a place where they can encounter Christ for the first time, perhaps in their lives. The Oasis team gets the opportunity to live out an example of Christ’s love in a time where these refugees are desperate for the comfort and security that we know only comes from the good news of Jesus Christ. He will use us in amazing ways if we trust in Him.

In Christ,
Dan and Regan

Many flee from wars, violence, persecution, famine, and hopelessness

Over 90% of the refugees at the Oasis have never heard the Gospel

There are more than 35 million refugees and uprooted people in the world today.

1 out of every 200 people is a refugee or displaced person

80% of refugees are women and children

Every 21 seconds, someone else steps foot on the refugee highway

The Oasis aims to be an international team partnering with churches, both locally and globally. The team walks alongside refugees, offering them the Living Water of Jesus Christ and moving with them toward an intimate relationship with Him and His people. The focus of the team at the Oasis is to reflect the heart of God to refugees and offer them the hope, life and refuge that can only be found in Jesus. Working with Austrian and ethnic churches in the Vienna area, the team seeks to equip those who come to faith to be able to share Jesus with others, including their own people, both in Austria and in their countries of origin.

Some of the ministry opportunities include: an evening coffee bar, evangelistic meetings, clothing room, the use of the Jesus Film in the different languages represented among the refugees (available in over 40 different languages), distribution of Bibles and Christian literature in the mother tongue of the refugees, children’s, teens’ and women’s ministries, personal small-and-large group Bible studies, discipleship relationships, visiting refugees, relief ministry (meeting some of the basic needs of refugees), practical assistance (filling out forms, transportation for medical help), computer cafe and helping maintain the Oasis building.

International Teams concept of sending young people to locations around the world started over 40 years ago. In 1962 the first team of six went to India where they gave out 100,000 pieces of Gospel literature. In the years that followed, millions of pieces of literature were distributed in Asia, Latin America and Europe.

The Gospel, which is the core of their ministry, is proclaimed through word and deed. IT is innovative, taking the gospel to where marginalized peoples are located and to the urban centers of the world. While the organization began with people doing just a few months ministry, now many of the missionaries have served for significant periods of time. Over 800 workers of 35 nationalities serve on 150 team locations in 55 countries.
